Historically,
complications from nail bed injuries have perplexed the physician.
Although in modern times better results have been achieved in treating
simple nail bed injuries, successful treatment for severe mail bed injuries
has continued to be elusive. Almost invariably the new nail
splits or grows back deformed. As a results, the new nail often
catches on clothing and makes it difficult for patients to pick up small
objects. Also the new nail is often aesthetically unappealing.
The INRO™ surgical nail splint
helps prevent most of these deformities if used properly. Also, in
simple avulsion of the nail plate, it protects the nail bed and reduces
pain.
